Just concluded our trial for Durian trees with Rhizoctonia Solani with great success. We want to inspire other planters that now it's year 2018, we can do organic planting, easily, safely and economically then before.
This farm is located in Ulu Langat, Selangor and belong to a friend of mine, Ghazali. Since he wanted an organic treatment and me want to promote organic planting, we got together and decided to test it out in 5 of his Durian trees.
Our goal was to treat the durian trees of Rhizoctonia Solani (Hawar Daun) which had infected the whole farm severely. Some trees are killed, some are stunned and not growing. We want to make them healthy again and make them start growing.
Organic products that we used were
1) AgroSol, Pure Plant Energy to enhance photosynthesis, so as to induce new growth and improve overall health of the tree from leafs to roots.
2) BioRichField, Feeding the Soil to Feed the Plant. A compost based bio-fertilizer enrich and inoculated with high efficacy microbes, fungi and food for the microbes. Complimented with Mycorrhiza Fungi and Nano Gel technology.
We started our trial on 10th October 2017 and we set a time line of 3 months. We felt that 3 months is a good time line as initial feedback from planters is that even if we were to succeed in organic, it shall takes too long a time. We actually started getting favorable results ahead of our dateline.
Our approach is pretty simple, repeatable and upscale-able in farm by normal farm hands. We dig a small trench along the drip line on the higher ground. We used approximately 3 kg of BioRichfields. We cover back with the original soil. The reason is that we want to create a richer organic matter to house the good microbes and also to have contact of the BioRichfield with the roots. This is important for the Mycorrhiza Fungi. With the cover up, we are also protecting the microbes from strong UV light and to create adequate heat. We further re-in-force with Ken Bio Defender to specifically target the Rhizoctonia Solani through absorption by the roots. 9 gm of Bio Defender was mixed with 6 liters of clean water and drench around the trunk of the tree.
We treat the tree with AgroSol so as to induce higher photosynthesis to produce more energy for the tree to recover and grow. This is a holistic approach as we target the Rhizoctonia and address the need for growth. This seems to work very well as a combination.
Response was rather fast due to the effect of AgroSol. We see new buds appearing starting from week 3. This increase in photosynthesis also results in higher uptake of nutrients that we had made
available for the tree's use.
These are the condition of the leaves at the start of the trial. Most were heavily infested. We can only treat and make the new leaves healthy and suppress the old leaves from spreading the
Rhizoctonia.
I am extremely satisfied with this challenge because it's so inspiring and now there is at least another organic planter in Malaysia. Thank you.

I am looking for an organic solution for rhizoctonia solani for tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteDurian produces good fruit output and high economic value for farmers, so it is recommended to spray pesticides with drones for high yield and optimal efficiency
